Being a race car
driver is something I love to do, but it does not accurately define who
I am. No more than being a husband, father, or any other important
aspect of life defines me. On October 17, 1987 I accepted Jesus Christ
as my personal Lord and Savior. In many ways, my life has not been the
same. I did not find religion or a religious experience, a God that is
alive and active found me. Jesus Christ has become my best friend. A
personal relationship with Jesus Christ is not first place in my life,
it is my life. I was not raised in a Christian home, but my parents
were very good people. As a teen I was focused on a lot of different
things, but God was not one of them. If there was a list of priorities,
He didn’t even make the list. I thought Christianity was a crutch and
that the Bible was a joke. It was during my time at college that I
began to question and wonder if there was anything more to life. I had
ran with the party crowd for a long time, and realized my personal
pursuits were not the answer.
Putting
my trust in Jesus Christ was the answer to my search. From that day,
until now, a relationship has been growing. First, trusting Christ for
my eternal salvation, and second, by learning to daily trust Him with
the good and bad times that life seems to bring our way. Being a
Christian does not necessarily take away all our problems or keep us
from difficult times. However, the Bible does promise that God will
walk with us through the hard times and He will cheer us on during the
good times. He promises to never leave our side. I am still amazed to
this day at how God keeps His promises. The love of God is still so
incredible to me. He gave His life so that I could experience life. He
has chosen to love me through all my mistakes; past, present, and
future. He has helped me in so many ways. This is why I try to thank
Jesus Christ publicly whenever I can. The reality of Jesus living
inside of me has enabled me to pursue my dreams, even when I didn’t
think it was possible. Keep dreaming, keep believing, keep the faith!
If you would like to know God personally, give Jesus your life today.
“God, I
admit that I’m a sinner. (Romans 3:23) and I believe that only you can
save me. (John 14:6) I repent of my sins, and I’m willing to turn away
from sin and serve you with a pure heart. (Luke 13:5) Jesus, I believe
that you died on the cross and shed your blood to pay for my sins, and
arose from the dead to give me eternal life. (Romans 10:9) God, save
me! (Romans 10:13) Jesus, be Lord of my life, and take control of every
area. (Romans 12:1-2) In Jesus name, amen.”
If you
are not sure if what you’ve read is for you, or you have a different
view, search for yourself – the Bible is the Word of God, it has a
perfect track record. Almost three quarters of the Bible is prophetic
(was written before it happened) and not one contradiction (within the
proper context). It is still a best seller and it helped to change my
life and millions of others. If the Bible is the Word of God, we’ve got
some decisions to make.
